Take note of open gaps in timber board joints; use thin, heavy-duty tape to bridge these gaps, ensuring careful application to prevent excessive tape coverage, which helps minimize the leveller from disappearing beneath the sub-floor.
- Pour the mixture over the sub-floor and spread it to the desired depth using an appropriate steel finishing trowel or a long-handled blade. Achieve a sufficiently smooth surface to accommodate floor coverings without additional treatment. It is crucial to avoid using a spiked roller, as this may pull fibers to the surface. In case of any remaining trowel marks, sand them down before the compound hardens (typically after 3 hours).
- Allow the new floor surface to set. Depending on the thickness of the application, a 3mm layer of BAL Level Fast can support foot traffic after 3 hours and can be tiled after 4 hours.
- When displaying existing movement joints in the sub-floor, ensure proper consideration for the subsequent tile finishes.
